The central parts of the Old Town is perfect for those who want to live right in the middle of the action. Small squares, narrow streets and beautiful old buildings together with shopping streets, restaurants and cafés. In this part of town you can keep yourself busy without even having to leave the neighborhood. But if you would still like to, you are within walking distance to most of what Palma has to offer.
Being so close to Plaza España also gives you Palma’s best communications and transport facilities just a few blocks away, whether you want to go by bus, train or taxi.
Plaza Mayor is a large, open square fully enclosed by a majestic building with the classic green shutters. During the summer it is swarming with people in the many restaurants, watching the street artists or having a coffee. During winter time, the square is lit by thousands of lights and you can visit the popular Christmas market. Some of the most busiest pedestrian shopping streets, such as via Sindicat and Calle San Miguel, start at Plaza Mayor.
Everywhere you look, in the center of the Old Town, there is a nice restaurant. One of the most popular dining experiences is the Mercat Olivar, a market hall with food for every taste. Get some fresh fruit to take home with you or, why not, have lunch in one of the many stalls!
Every Tuesday all year round La Ruta Martiana is organised in the area. Enjoy tapas, pinchos, cervezas and vinos at a variety of restaurants and bars.
